treatment we will have you come in to see us every
few months for continued care. This Re-care treatment
may include x-rays, removal of plaque and evaluation
of your home care. These appointments are valuable for
controlling your disease.
Since
periodontal disease cannot be cured, it must
be monitored to so that we can prevent
additional
destruction to your bones and gum tissue.
After
treatment some bacteria do remain which settle
back into the pocket areas, and
once again begin their
reproductive and destructive cycle. In less than 3
months
the bacteria can reach alarming levels.
The
6 month re-care appointment is not soon enough
for those who have a history of
periodontal disease.
Statistics have shown that re-evaluation at 3-4
months is
important if not critical for periodontal
patients, this helps break the cycle
of the bacteria
in your gums and reduce the infection and destructive
effects
of periodontal disease.
