A

A
tooth becomes weak; possibly from decay
or fracturing.

alot of tooth structure left.

brittle and weak.

for cosmetic purposes.
Types of Crowns
The
type of a crown used will be based on individual
patient criteria such as wear patterns, location in the
mouth, strength and durability.
For
posterior teeth, gold crowns or porcelain over precious
metal crowns may be chosen for strengh and longevity,
for front teeth, crowns made of all porcelain may be used
for aesthetic purposes.
How
are Crowns made
We
currently have two methods of crown construction
to offer our patients.
- Cerec:
A camera incorporated into a computer
and milling machine will take a photograph your
tooth, CAD technology will be used to construct
an all porcelain crown while you wait, your crown
will be cemented in your mouth before your
appointment is finished, with no need for a
temporary crown or a return visit.
